Volunteers needed for a Smoking Cessation clinical research study
I am conducting a clinical research study to evaluate a prescription medication compared to two other smoking cessation treatments and placebo in adults who want to quit smoking. This study is particularly interested in any change in mood or other mental functioning so persons who may or may not be currently taking antidepressant medications may qualify.
Quitting smoking is one of the more difficult goals to reach. Despite the numerous detrimental health effects of smoking, only a small percent of people who attempt to quit are successful.
Eligible volunteers can expect 15 visits and several phone calls over approximately 6 months.
To be considered for participation in this research study, you must be 18 to 75 years and meet all the entry requirements to the study. Medical staff at my office will review the criteria with you to determine if youre eligible.
Qualified participants will receive all study related care at no cost including:
- Study Medication
- Counseling (in person and via telephone)
- Physical Exams
- Lab work
- EKG
Monetary compensation of up to $825 is available for time and travel expenses.
If you are interested or know someone who may be interested in this study please contact the Coastal Carolina Research Center at 856-3784. To respect your interest and commitment in volunteering for a clinical research study, we offer flexible appointment scheduling and are happy to answer any of your questions or concerns.
We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for helping advance new medical treatments on this very important study for all smokers.
Sincerely,
Cynthia B. Strout, MD
