Re: Weight Loss Clinical Trial - 29 Week Long Study
Dear Volunteers:
We face a major health problem in the United States - obesity. This new research study is looking for volunteers who are serious about staying in the program. Both men and women are welcome to apply, so please tell your spouse or significant other if you think they would be interested in participating in this with you.
I am conducting a clinical research study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug for weight loss in overweight or obese persons. To be considered for participation in this research study, you must be 18 to 65 years old and meet all the entry criteria including Body Mass Index or BMI measurements. BMI is a calculation, which combines your gender, height, weight, and waistline measurements. The higher a person's BMI score the higher the health risk. Study staff at my site will review all additional criteria with you to determine if you're eligible.
If you are eligible and decide to participate, you must be willing to attend up to 14 office visits over approximately 29 weeks. Participation in this research study includes, at no cost:
- Physical exams
- Close monitoring and study-related care - including Lifestyle Intervention programs, lab tests, and electrocardiograms (ECGs), which is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heart.
- Investigational Study Medication
- DEXA scan(s) for body composition - a test that uses low dose x-rays to measure body fat and fat distribution.
- Compensation for time and travel expenses
