Coastal Carolina Research Center (CCRC) has a research database of over 10,500 volunteers. This database of reliable volunteers is built on the premise that they are not only our patients, they are our customers. This simple recognition, training and reinforcement of customer service skills help make our retention efforts more effective.

CCRC currently uses Clinasyst as our Clinical Trials Management System. Within this confidential database we maintain the names of Lowcountry citizens who have either participated in a clinical trial or have submitted interest in volunteering for clinical trials with CCRC. This database allows us to query within minutes by age, gender, ethnic group and medical diagnosis or history to allow for quick feasibility surveys. Our database closely resembles the general demographic information of the Charleston metro area and we intend to continue to seek clinical study opportunities that would benefit our entire population.

Our research demographic breakdown is as follows:

Female – 60%
Male – 40%

Ethnicity:
Caucasion – 70%
African American – 25%
Other – 5%

Age Groups:
< 17 years of age – recruitment provided by pediatric investigators
18 – 29 age group: 10% of database
30 – 39 age group: 13% of database
40 – 49 age group: 21% of database
50 – 59 age group: 26% of database
60 – 69 age group: 20% of database
> 70 years of age: 10% of database

CCRC has the luxury of working with a number of respected physicians in the area who have their own private practices. These investigators are welcome to supplement recruitment efforts by referring patients from their own practice when appropriate and according to the inclusion/exclusion criteria of the study.
